Partner and COO
Catherine has been with Sullivan since the very beginning. She was our first employee and has worked hard with our President and CEO Joe Sullivan, to develop the company into what it is today. She is our resident encyclopedia of benefits. Our clients marvel at her knowledge of insurance, regulations and programs, her remarkable attention to detail, and her deep level of caring for every one of our clients and their employees.
At Sullivan, Catherine oversees all aspects of our operations. She manages business development as well as account services and sets the tone for her team’s “can do” attitude. Her responsibilities include organizational oversight, business development, carrier negotiations, cost-benefit analysis, underwriting, actuarial assessments, and granular analytics. Sullivan was proud to formally name Catherine as a partner in 2017. She is renowned for her solutions oriented personality that has helped clients save money due to her keen sense of relevance and her ability to view issues on both a macro and micro level without losing sight of the individual client’s needs. Catherine is adored by our clients and partners alike for her ability to offer sustainable benefit solutions which mitigate risk while providing quality recruitment and retention strategies.
As a result of Catherine’s tenure and reputation within the market, she is considered a strategic partner for numerous publicly traded organizations and is critical in product development and management for our partners. Catherine is always willing to mentor and help with the development of young professionals looking to enter the insurance and health care space, and is consequently often asked to speak to new graduates and trainees about how to be well respected and successful professionals.
Catherine is a dual citizen and transplanted to the United States from Ottawa, Canada. She graduated from the University of Ottawa with her Bachelor of Arts and holds her Life, Health and Variable Annuity license from the state of Florida. She is an approved CE instructor for the Florida Department of Financial Services.
Catherine presents on many different subjects pertaining to employee benefits and Human Resources at multiple conferences annually and has developed and taught multiple training programs throughout her career. Catherine participates in several Broker Executive Councils, Top Honors programs and is a member of the National Association of Health Underwriters, Tampa Bay Chamber of Commerce, LeadingAge Florida, Florida Health Care Association, and National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors.
Catherine is very active in her community, church, and various local charities. A specific organization that is very dear to her heart is the ALS Association. This is due, in part, to the passing of her mother in-law as a result of this disease. She is the President of her Homeowner’s Association where she works hard to improve her community. Catherine and her husband Grant are the proud parents of three energetic daughters and two pugs who keep them on their toes at all times!
