Data Analysis and Technology

Advances in technology have enabled a level of sophisticated analysis never before seen.   At Sullivan, we truly live in the Information Age and take full advantage of the new tools available to review and analyze historical trends and experiences and project future activity.  The result is that we are able to advocate for our customers across a broad range of issues and challenges.

Leadership for a New Model

The management of health insurance is becoming increasingly sophisticated.  The days of simple, transactional insurance brokerage are waning and they are being replaced by true partnerships between employers, their employees, and benefits brokers.  Brokers must provide a full range of consulting services to their clients, as together, they navigate through the complexities of today’s benefits landscape.

Years of experience and extensive research into the needs of our clients led us to Decision Master Warehouse — a medical claim decision support system that significantly impacts the way traditional healthcare claims information is viewed and utilized.

We proudly offer technology-based solutions by utilizing:

DecisionMaster
Decision Master Warehouse (DMW) is an Internet-based decision support system for managing group medical plans. DMW lets us detect problems with medical utilization or plan cost, isolate the root causes of utilization problems, and create money-saving solutions. DMW also allows us to benchmark our clients’ health plan utilization with industry peers, both regionally and nationally. These benchmarks allow us to identify where plan use is higher than average, and offers a platform from which productive plan design alternatives can be examined.

Underwriting & Healthcare Analytics

Sullivan has managed medical benefits programs for many employer groups, keeping costs below comparable levels experienced by other employers.

As the healthcare world continues to change, Sullivan has remained ahead of the game. With leading-edge technology, we are able to obtain meaningful information that helps us evaluate cost drivers, trends, and savings opportunities associated with our clients’ medical benefits.  In addition, we work to evaluate the impact of various plan management initiatives and to forecast the impact of future plan changes.

Meaningful, Actionable Data

The tools that we make available to employer groups result in consistent year-to-year data, reporting formats, and comparative benchmarks. This highly meaningful, yet understandable information, enables us to collaboratively work with your data in a continuous interactive manner.  Our practice of ongoing review and analysis results in identifying plan management issues quickly and dealing with them effectively.

Internal Processes Assure a Proactive Approach

Our aggressive management techniques include a number of internal medical claim management and preventive health initiatives.

  • Consistent and ongoing evaluation of claims and other data specifically to identify emerging trends and statistical aberrations
  • Programs focused on attacking cost drivers
  • Removal or reduction of risk through the use of sophisticated analytical tools
  • Leverage insurance to aggressively transfer risk
  • Strategies to manage risk through full or partial self-funding of insurance

Sullivan clients can rest assured that their plan performance is under continual scrutiny and analysis.  The result is that we manage costs on an ongoing basis and avoid big surprises.

What Others Say About Us

What I like about working with Sullivan is their attention to detail and their personalized service. A lot of people today talk about customer service, but few deliver at the level that Sullivan does.
